Satellete TV Guide

Deciding which satellite company to pick is a major choice till you try to decide which package you want with your service, then there is which receiver is the best to meet your needs not to mention the different dishes you must chose from. I know I have been through both and with the help of two friends one who works for Dish TV and the other than installs DirecTV systems I have really found there is a major amount of research you should do to make a wise decision on the best type of satellite TV system. I have compiled over 2000 websites for all the information of different aspects of the area of satellite TV.

I have tried the big two satellite companies personally. I have much information never found on any other websites. I believe this site will be your one stop site in the future. I left no stone unturned when the term satellite TV, hacking and programming are both addressed.

Installation is completly different between the the two companies and the are many factors that will improve your reception in the wiring design you deside in you installation plans. I found it is best to plan ahead the wiring and if possible have your wiring finished before your installation.

Dennis Evans has consulted both DirecTV and Dish Networks installer and representives and feels you will find weeks of reseacrh here.

Digital Cable VS Satellite TV

Do you want to get more channels while saving money but not sure if you should go with digital cable or satellite TV? Then this article is meant directly for you! The commercials seen on TV and the ad’s displayed all over the internet can be overwhelming at best. Below we will hope to help make your choice simplified for you!

Cost Difference between Digital Cable VS Satellite TV:

Most cable companies include local franchise fees along with local broadcasting fees on your monthly bill. Digital cable varies starting at $30-$40 per month and up depending on the package you choose it can go up as high as $90 per month.

While Satellite packages usually offer betters deals based on how much money is spent per channel. Some satellite companies offer a price point between of $25 for over fifty channels. With most satellite companies pricing may be a little higher per month unless committing to twelve months of programming up front. A twelve month satellite commitment will usually ensure lower cost up front and most even free installation of the satellite dish.

Programming differences between Digital Cable VS Satellite TV:

Most Satellite TV systems can support over 250 channels of programming. All channels are of digital quality. One downside is satellite offers less local channels and may not have local channels in some areas. Most satellite companies also offer HD TV services that are compatible to your satellite TV service.

Digital cable on the other hand can support over 300 channels of programming of digital quality. Digital Cable has more local channels available in most major cities. Most cable companies now offer Video on Demand (a library of movies and TV shows that you can order at your leisure). HDTV services are becoming more popular amongst cable companies now and not just thru satellite TV as in the past.

Difference of Equipment:

Satellite equipment typically includes a satellite dish that is installed outside the home that is visible to everyone. A satellite receiver is also essential per TV. Most satellite receivers today also come with a PVR (Personal Video Recorder) which the cable company has not yet been able to offer as of now. Most satellite companies run specials on free installation and equipment when you agree to a 12 month contract.

Digital cable also requires one receiver per TV but that is all the equipment needed. Should you disconnect your service the receivers will be turned into the cable company where as with Satellite TV you own the dish.

In closing:

In the end the prices are comparable but it depends on which system will best suit your television needs and what you are more comfortable with. Both Digital TV and Satellite TV both have their disadvantages and advantages, you make the call!

An Introduction to Satellite TV

Before making the decision to switch to Dish Network or Direct TV you should have a basic understanding as to what satellite TV is so you can make an informed decision.

Without a basic understanding of satellite TV and how it works you won’t be able to truly enjoy and reap the benefits of your new Dish Network or Direct TV system!

Satellite TV works the same as a conventional television does. Radio signals transmit programming that is then received through a satellite that orbits around the earth. This satellite broadcasts a signal to the dish connected to the user’s home.

Satellite technology allows the viewer to receiver more than 250 channels on their home television, which is far more than your conventional television offers.

There are two primary Satellite Companies in the United States that provide satellite TV service to their customers. They are Dish Network and Direct TV, with Dish Network being the most well know service!

Each of these satellite companies broadcasts channels directly to your home. The provider may vary in your area, depending on where you are located. You can find out beforehand which company if not both are available to you.

When considering the switch to Dish network or Direct TV, here are some questions to ask yourself and then consider before making your decision.

How many receivers will you need? The prices and fees may vary between providers. One may offer more receivers per house while one may offer an additional fee per room, definitely a consideration.

Viewing preferences — If you are an avid sports fan and want to watch live sporting events - do price comparisons on this package and any other add-ons. Is there a cost difference? Is it too great or comparable?

What is your satellite service primarily for; television service, internet service or both? Which provider has better pricing for both or one or the other?

Price differences — While both Dish network and Direct TV offer free equipment and installation be sure to compare package deals and costs, this is where there will be a cost difference more than likely.

Consider these few facts before making the switch and you should be happy and watching over 250 channels in no time at all. What are you waiting for Get your free satellite system from Dish network or Direct TV today!

Cut the Cable and Get the Dish

Remember way back when in the caveman days of satellite TV? The TV satellite dish was big and bulky. Really, it was an eyesore in your neighborhood, but also a sort of status symbol. Not everyone at the time could afford one. However, the constant adjustments of the dish were a hindrance. Today, the TV satellite dish is a sleeker, more condensed design that fits well on the roof of a house. Two of the most popular satellite TV providers are Direct TV and Dish network.

"Back in the day", satellite TV appealed to viewers who were searching for programming that was not mainstream, something that no one else would typically get with traditional local broadcasting. Things like live feeds from foreign news sites were popular. Today, however, plugging in to the satellite dish network of your choice is popular and fairly inexpensive. You have the same programming choices as cable networks as well as a lot more programming from other parts of the world.

Many supposed die hard fans of cable are now quietly signing up for Directv or the Dish Network, the two leading most popular satellite TV companies around. The reason? Better customer service and better overall quality in programming and picture. Now you are probably thinking that your direct satellite TV is cost prohibitive. However, nothing could be further from the truth. Depending on which satellite TV provider you go with, you most likely could receive a free satellite TV system. So that just leaves you with the cost of programming, which is usually cheaper than cable.

The great thing about satellite TV, whether you go with the Dish network or Direct TV, is that you will less likely have occurrences of disrupted service, unlike your standard cable. Signals are sent from the satellites in space and cloud cover, homes and other objects do not alter the signal at all.

So what do you need to get started? First you have to make a choice of which provider you will go with. Unfortunately, you cannot always go and purchase standard equipment like a satellite TV receiver or a TV satellite dish. Both the satellite Dish Network as well as Direct TV has some proprietary components. So once you decide which provider you will go with, then you can purchase the remaining equipment. Just remember, before you buy anything, research local retailers! Sometimes, they offer special promotions where you get a free satellite TV system, including the satellite TV receiver.

You can either install the system yourself or have a technician come to your home and take care of it for you. Now the hardest part of it all will be deciding on whether you should subscribe to one of the extra perks like Directv Tivo or Directv HDTV! Decisions! Decisions!

Sirius Radio - Everything You Ever Wanted to Know

Sirius radio, or more generally satellite radio, came out just a few years ago. If you’ve never listened to satellite radio or heard about it, this article is your lucky break. In this article you’ll find out what satellite radio is and how it works.

What Is Satellite Radio?

Just like the name indicates, satellite radio uses satellites and related equipment to broadcast radio channels to car or home radios. The concept really received its impetus in 1992 when the FCC set aside a chunk of radio frequency for what they called Digital Audio Radio Service (DARS). Five years later, Sirius Radio and XM Satellite Radio purchased licenses from the FCC, and both companies started putting the pieces into place to be able to start broadcasting.

Conventional radio waves can only travel 35 to 45 miles before they die out. The signal for satellite radio services is broadcast more than 20,000 miles above the Earth’s surface. Programming on satellite radio is subscriber based, meaning you pay a monthly fee to descramble the signal from the satellites. But, most satellite radio service comes commercial free, so you don’t have to worry about channel hopping. Channels include music, talk radio, sporting events, kids programs, and news.

The Who’s Who of Satellite Radio

There are currently three major players in the satellite radio game: Sirius radio, XM satellite radio, and WorldSpace. Sirius radio covers North America, including the continental U.S., Canada, and Alaska. XM provides service in the continental U.S. WorldSpace is developing coverage in other parts of the world (Asia, Africa, Europe, and South America) and are definitely the most ambitious in terms of client coverage (a potential of 4.6 billion clients covered on 5 different continents). Each company uses different satellite technology and methods to provide service in their respective areas.

Satellite radio equipment, such as car receivers and home stereos, are sold at a variety of consumer electronic stores, and are starting to become standard installations in new cars. Conventional radios cannot receive satellite radio transmissions, so picking up the service usually entails purchasing a receiver, though some kits are available to make conventional radios satellite-radio compatible.

Because of the different technology each company utilizes, receivers are not compatible with every company. For example, if you subscribed to XM but then wanted to switch to Sirius radio, you would need to get a new receiver that was compatible with Sirius. Some satellite television companies include satellite radio service in their channel packages, and you can receive the transmission through your television satellite dish.

How Does Satellite Radio Work?

This is the cool part. The music, talk show, sporting event, etc., are recorded digitally in a studio, after which the message is encoded. The encoded signal is sent to the satellites from ground stations (Sirius radio based in New York; XM based out of D.C.). The satellites then relay the signal to receivers in your car or at home. The receivers contain chipsets that decode the signal and play it through you stereo. In urban areas where taller buildings might block the signal from the satellites, ground repeaters or transmitters are used to resend the signal, eliminating pockets of dead space.

XM uses two satellites to cover the continental United States with their signal. Sirius radio uses three satellites to form a satellite constellation. The way they are set in orbit ensures that each satellite spends about 16 hours at a time covering the U.S. and that there is always at least one satellite over the U.S. at any given time. WorldSpace satellites beam three signals each to increase the amount of territory they are able to cover with their three satellites. All three companies have reserve satellites ready to launch in case one of their satellites stops working.

Satellite radio technology looks like it’s here to stay. It is ideal for those that live in areas where normal radio reception is poor, or for those willing to pay a little each month to not have to listen to commercials. Chances are good that soon every new car you buy will have satellite radio installed, and that more and more homes will be equipped for it. I have only covered the basics. It is definitely worth your time to find out more about what each company has to offer.

Nick Smith is a client account specialist with 10x Marketing — More Visitors. More Buyers. More Revenue. To find out how to get Sirius radio with your satellite TV service, check out I-Satellite.

Satellite Dish System Repair

Dish satellites are used all over the world to provide a variety of channels for television viewing. Cables are used to connect a television with a personal dish satellite or with a satellite used by a service provider. Dish satellites use air space to connect to remote signals and in turn, relay them for viewing. However, a viewer may never pay attention to the satellite unless transmission is interrupted.

At times, it is quite frustrating to switch on a television only to watch a blinking screen. In such cases, people can try to tune personal dish satellites. In tuning a small dish satellite, it is important to maintain an accurate compass direction. However, this is just a method to try and eliminate the problem. If channels are still unavailable for viewing the dish satellite system may require repairing.

Before calling a technician, it is also important to check the receiver menu. Once in a while, this helps conclude if odd or even transponders are missing. If any of these are not responding, the centralized power source should be checked. Dish satellite owners may try to disconnect the receiver and LNB for a few minutes and then reconnect. Occasionally, this can solve the problem. Loss of signal may also occur due to heavy rainfall. In such a case it is essential to adjust the dish to receive signals.

The reason a dish satellite owner needs to check these minor adjustments is because the entire dish satellite system works as a unit. It is also advisable to check the cable wire for splinters or cracks. If these adjustments still do not permit viewing the channels, then the satellite dish system may need repairs.

Before choosing a specialized technician for repairs, it is advisable to discuss with friends and family members who have had similar experiences. People may also fill an online application to contact a technician. It is important to carry out routine maintenance of satellite dish systems, as recommended by the manufacturer. Unfortunately, some of the time, repairs will not be an option and the dish will need to be replaced.

Dish Network Vs. DirecTV - Race For Top Is On

If you have taken sane decision to replace your cable TV with the Satellite TV, one thing is sure that you won’t look back in regret. In fact you would regret for depriving yourself of this modern technology for so long. No doubt, more and more people are adding to the Satellite fold and enjoying this new dimension of the entertainment.

The choice of over 150 channels covering all hues of life from classical music to rock music, premium movie channels, sports channels, informative channels and lots more will change the way you used to watch your TV. So be ready to enthrall you with the amazing picture quality and digital sound and feel the difference in the entertainment world.

Undoubtedly, two Satellite TV providers, which make their presence felt in the heart of US people, are DirecTV and Dish Network. They cover all the 50 States and are ready to change your lives irrespective of your location. Get the best satellite TV deal over Internet. Why Internet? Since it is cheaper and convenient to apply for connection online.

These two Satellite TV providers will offer you value for money and the service beyond your expectations. But you have to make up your mind on any one and even the comparison is not easy considering so many things involved and the difference is so subtle that you will end up straining your eyes and mind. But here we are giving some tips, which you can use for taking the final decision.

DirecTV started in 1994 and has the largest base in United States but giving it tough competition is Dish Network, dazzling its viewers with its largest number of channels. The Dish Network bringing more sharpness to the picture and clarity to the sound by digitalizing the TV programming pioneers the concept of HD TV. Today Dish Network caters to more than 10 million satellite TV consumers and its consumer base is just widening.

People with foreign origin can heave a sigh of relief as Dish Network provides you host of foreign programming and channels. You get to see a lot of channels in Spanish and Mandarin. Recently they have come up with Bridges TV Network targeting American Muslim population covering Muslim cultural programs besides usual package of cartoons, news, and music and movie channels.

Viewers of Dish Network have another reason to smile as it has acquired various Voom HD channels which will not only provide better quality of picture and sound but will offer them more variety to choose from. Karaoke channel is going to add another feather to its cap. This is going to be another first from Dish Network in the interactive channel segment.

Dish Network is the first choice for those who spend most of the time in their homes. Elderly people and housewives can kill their boredom with Dish Network Satellite TV package that includes your favorite movie channels, news coverage, informative channels etc. However, if sports are your great past time and if you follow the sports religiously, choosing DirecTV will be a better choice.

People whose job requires frequent shifting should opt for Dish Network for its easy mobility. Dish Network provides its own equipment and Satellite TV connection making smooth transition from your cable TV to Satellite TV. In contrast DirecTV respects your freedom of choice and allows you to purchase the equipment from anywhere else.

If you compare the monthly subscription charges of these two Satellite TV providers, you would find Dish Network slightly cheaper than its rival. The same is true in the HD TV segments as well. Here Dish Network has not only edge over pricing but also on the number of HD channels which are almost double than the number of HD channels provided by DirecTV.

These Satellite TV providers offer very attractive package to their potential customers in the form of free satellite TV equipments, free satellite TV installation, free HDTV upgrades, free DVD player, subscription waiver etc. While Dish Network gives you free dish network programming for one or two month besides free dish network guide and other gifts, DirecTV lures you with free premium movie channels for first few months to catch your attention.

Abatement of Free Cable Signals Abuses

Cable Television companies lost millions in revenues as people stole the signals with de-scrambling devices. Some say but those signals were traveling thru the air and no one owns them so they believed getting free television was appropriate.

When satellite TV came the same thing happened, but today it is much different and the satellite TV folks have been able to abate the freeloaders from stealing the signals, with special cards, which have special coding to allow the signal to be captured. Is this system fool- proof?

No, it is not in fact there are ways to get those signals for free, however also realize that much of this high-tech tactics of thievery are not so open or common knowledge to the common person and some of the technology is somewhat secret. You see our military in time of war has to be able to tap signals from enemies and information sources and they are able to get such signals.

Satellite TV companies go to great lengths to prevent these things, but thieves also go to great lengths to duplicate code cards so they can sell them to others to get free TV. The days of stealing cable signals and TV Satellite signals are becoming numbered. This indeed good for many reasons as it means less cost for all the rest of us, because more people will have to actually pay for what they have been using. Consider this in 2006.

DISH Network Satellite TV

With so many competitors in the Satellite TV industry, you may be wondering how to choose the best deal. Well, aren’t you in luck?

We’ve made it simple. There are several things to consider when choosing your Satellite TV provider:

Good customer service — Many satellite television companies are quick to help when they’re taking your money but seem to disappear when you need their support the most. To get a feel for what to expect, check out their website.

DISH Network Satellite TV for example, has an easy to use interface so that you can find just what you’re looking for. If the website seems to have you going in circles, keep looking — it’s a warning of things to come.

Competitive pricing — You don’t have to drain your retirement fund in order to own a satellite TV system. Many satellite TV companies may offer what seems like a good deal up front, but then tack on big fees to counter those savings. Be sure you know what you’ll be paying, both for installation and on a monthly basis.

DISH Network Satellite TV offers some great deals on satellite equipment and installation — you can even get your entire DISH Network Satellite Television system for free!

User-friendly — Can’t figure out how to program your dish? Wondering where to start setting it up? DISH Network Satellite TV offers an easy-to-use online interface that will walk you through your satellite setup every step of the way. Does your satellite company do that?

In addition to these important factors, you want to be sure you’ve got a reputable company, one that will be around in the years to come. Unfortunately, there are a number of satellite TV companies that see the business as a profitable opportunity but don’t have the staying power to be with you for the long haul.

With DISH Network Satellite TV, you can feel confident knowing that your dish satellite company is a reputable and respected company, one that will be there when you need them.

Comparing satellite companies takes a little extra legwork on your part but, as you can see, it can make all the difference in pricing, service and quality.

Can DIRECTV DVR Replace Blockbuster?

What is a DIRECTV DVR? How can DIRECTV DVR replace Blockbuster? Home video libraries have traditionally been for those with either lots of money to spend on legalized copies or for techno-pirates of the working class with little regard for the system of copyrights. While most people are not politically inclined to anarchism in the US, they are open to defending the anarchist’s “free reign of information” as an excuse for making or buying illegal copies of Audio, Video and even Written materials.

Both the digital world and popular pressure finally gave in to the "free reign of information." The DIRECTV DVR is a replacement for those old home video libraries that might have up to 300 VHS tapes along the wall, each with six hours of TV, soap operas, Movies, MTV or whatever recorded on them. A DIRECTV DVR can record up to 70 hours of information in one little box. The DIRECTV DVR will improve with time, as will technology and far from now, Video Rental stores may become obsolete.

Some political philosophers and statesmen have already conjectured what the future of our nation is to look like some 30 years from now, and one of these talking heads insights tells the tale of the downfall of Video Rental stores like Blockbuster.

DIRECTV DVR is Digital

When Beta audio-video recording and playback media first arrived on the scene way back in prehistoric 1975 with 100,000 VCR machines, they were superior to the competition, but wouldn’t sell there patens. VHS came along in full and blew Sony Beta machines right out the water. Like "wow?!?" What happened? That was most peoples’ sentiment at the time, at least those who had invested in Beta machines.

8-Tracks were being installed into Ford dashboards as early as 1966 and was the major audio format for cars in the 1970’s, in fact was still being used by Madonna and Michael Jackson in the 1980’s with such hits as Thriller. But all of a sudden Sony Walkman comes along with Compact Cassettes (which already existed), and blows 8-track out of the water… Well, mini disc sure seems like it is repeating 8-Track’s history with mp3 players all over the place.

DIRECTV DVR is Revolutionary

Lets just look at the evolution for a second: 8-Track, Beta, Compact Cassette, VCR, Laser Disc, Compact Disc, Mini Disc, DVD, MP3 player, DVR and finally DIRECTV DVR. Well, digital didn’t sell when it was fighting analog super-giants that set "standards" for excellence, but DVD, computer sales and "free reign of information on the internet" changed all that.

People know what digital is the "now", and they know it is superior. People know that MP3 players don’t skip tracks while driving or running, nor do they eat tape. Cell phones can play back MPEG and MP3 uploads from any digital storage space, and people know technology is picking up pace.

Personal Audio and Visual libraries that occupy space are being replaced as technology speeds up and puts everything into Hard Drives. The Satellite TV DIRECTV DVR is a media storage device unlike any other that has ever existed. DIRECTV DVR is revolutionary. Big or small, tech is evolving and DIRECTV DVR will eventually blow Blockbuster out of the water.

DIRECTV DVR is the Future

How long will it take for DIRECTV DVR to fully replace the Audio-Visual media distribution of the last 50 years? Some specialists dictate that Blockbuster like media distributions of music and television libraries will be overrun by homeowners with Satellite TV, Radio, Movie Channels, Music Television, Internet and PayPerView all in one monthly service within the next five to ten years, maybe less. It all depends on how fast Satellite TV companies can compete with DIRECTV DVR multimedia digital storage and playback devices.

The more competition, the faster hardware will evolve and DIRECTV DVR is setting a standard for excellence that will only evolve and upgrade itself with every new advance in technology.

"DIRECTV DVR is the future of multimedia digital home storage."

The reason behind this is pretty simple. They are online, so the investment is much less when compared to a brick and mortar store. They pass on this cost savings to the consumers as discounts and freebies. The other reason is plain old competition. There is cut throat competition nowadays. One wants to beat the other. Hence the consumer benefits again. So, start browsing and looking for the best deal on Dish Network.

What Will You Get?

Dish Network offers up to 3 different packages according to your preferences. The three packages are All American Top 60s, 120s, and 180s. The packages differ in rates and content. The apparatus is also pretty easy to setup and you can also do it on your own.

Beware Of Frauds!

With the good comes the bad as well. There are a million websites out there offering Dish Network satellite TV with freebies that are unbelievable. However, many of these are scams and once you order you will find hidden costs for everything including the freebies and shipping. Make sure that you are ordering from a dealer who is certified by the Dish Network. Check to see if there are any hidden costs involved. Some operators even charge outrageous cancellation fees. So, be careful and choose best deal on dish network!

Artificial Satellite Types

A celestial body orbiting another celestial body of larger size is a satellite. An artificial satellite is a manufactured object or vehicle intended to orbit the earth, the moon, or another celestial body. Since October 4th, 1957 humanity is capable of putting artificial satellites in orbit around the earth. The Russians were the first with Sputnik; a small satellite that orbited the earth for a couple of months and transmitted beeps for 21 days.

The USA launched its first satellite on January 31st, 1958. This satellite was named Explorer 1, and through the data transmitted back to earth by Explorer 1, scientists discovered the van Allen radiation belts, zones in space around the earth, and the planets Jupiter and Saturn, containing high-energy protons and electrons.

50 years ago artificial satellites did not exist. Since Sputnik more than 4800 satellites have been launched by governments and private companies around the world. Satellites are used for satellite TV of course, but there are many more purposes for satellites.

Types of Satellites

The Moon is a satellite of the earth; the earth is a satellite of the sun. The first is called a moon, the second a planet. Man made (artificial) satellites orbit any celestial body and are always called a satellite, whether they orbit the earth, the moon, the sun or any other celestial body.

We use satellites for different purposes and all satellites can be placed in one of the following categories:

Communications Satellites

Distribution of television and audio signals, and telephone connections via satellite are done by Communications Satellites. These types of communications typically need a satellite in geostationary orbit. In 1964 the US Department of Defense launched the first satellite that was placed in geostationary orbit. This satellite was named Syncom 3.

Today geostationary satellites are used to provide voice, audio and video communications like satellite TV by Dish Network Satellite.

Navigation Satellites

These satellites were of enormous help to transportation companies, especially transportation over water and through the air. The US GPS satellites are in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and can determine position with a precision of 1 cm (0.4 inch). However, that very precise positioning is available for military purposes only. For commercial use the precision is less accurate.

Navigation satellites are also used for distance measurements for instance between buildings.

Weather Satellites

Observing the earth is the task for weather satellites, and then especially what happens in the atmosphere. Different kinds of cameras, like infrared and normal cameras are used to observe either the same part of the earth, from a geostationary orbit, or more closely from polar orbits to get more detailed pictures. These low orbit weather satellites focus more on the study of the atmosphere than on the current weather it self.

Military Satellites

Very similar to weather satellites, military satellites are also used for observing the earth. Generally with higher resolution cameras and instead of normal communications equipment, they use encryption as well. Sometimes these types of satellites have very different types of orbits. For instance a very elliptical orbit which brings the satellite as far away from the earth as the moon and as close to the earth that it shortly enters the atmosphere, to get as close as possible to the earth surface without falling back to earth.

Probably many more tactics are used, but for obvious reasons, these are unknown.

Scientific Satellites

Observing the earth for scientific purposes is also very good possible with satellites. Making maps with low polar orbits satellites for instance, but also measuring the exact shape of the earth, geological research, etc can all benefit greatly from scientific satellites.

But scientific satellites are not just used for observing the earth. The research of space benefits also from scientific satellites. For instance the Hubble Satellite which actually is a huge telescope that orbits the earth. Because the Hubble telescope doesn’t have to “see” through the atmosphere it can produce much clearer and detailed images than earth based telescopes.

Dish Network Satellite: Better TV for All

DISH Network satellite is the second largest provider of satellite TV services in the United States. The network also provides a satellite TV guide, the satellite dishes and free network deals. The option of purchasing HDTV equipment and service packages that provides the viewers an access to 8 high definition channels is also available under the packages offered by the DISH network satellite TV service.

Dish Network- Programming Edge

The DISH network was launched by Echostar Communications in 1996 and currently has a subscriber base of over 11 million. The network has nine broadcasting satellites at present. The number of channels offered by the Dish network satellite TV services is more than that offered by its rival DirecTV. The facilities offered by the Dish network are available in more than 50 states of the United States at a monthly cost of less than $100. This satellite TV service provider also offers a large number of sports dedicated channels along with foreign language programs.

The DISH network also offers 50 Sirius Satellite Radio music channels and Starband broadband Internet service and has recently been rated as the number one in customer satisfaction by JD Power & Associates amongst all satellite service providers in the US.

The offerings of the DISH network satellite can be received through a satellite system which transmits the signals to the viewer’s TV. Increased competition in the satellite-networking arena has resulted in lucrative offers for satellite TV packages for the customers. Most of the service providers including the DISH network provide the satellite networking system (equipment) free to their subscribers.

The package offered by the DISH network provider includes: a satellite TV dish and stand, up to four receivers and a universal remote and high definition TV receivers. The service providers also offer free installation of the system in up to four rooms in the viewer’s house. The DISH network providers also offer various gifts such as a DVD player or a home theatre system to its subscribers.

The DISH network service for satellite TV includes more than 256 program channels, up to 500 commercial movies every month, the facility of digital video recording, up to 60 pay per view programs every day and fifty commercial-free Sirius Radio music channels with CD-quality sound. Under the service provided by the DISH network the local channels are also broadcast in digital format. The sound and the picture quality offered by the channel are said to be very good. The various packages offered by the DISH network range from $31.99 per month to $86.99 per month. These packages can be bought through phone or internet.

There are many Dish Network dealers that seem to offer similar features. To help you decide which is right for you, we provide our reviews here: Dish Network Dealers. Also read Dish Network and DirecTV comparison in Dish Network vs DirecTV.

10 Tips for Satellite TV Systems

Here are 10 tips about satellite tv systems. As always, reference your owner’s manual for all safety precautions.

1) Surge protection - Do not attempt to run your satellite tv system without a surge protector. Get a good one. We recommend a high end one from Radio Shack. Make sure the surge protector has inputs for the coax cable and telephone jack as well. Do not forget to protect any antenna inputs you might have coming in to your receiver. Do not think that you can get by without this. Sooner or later it will come back to haunt you and cost you money that will not be covered under warranty.

2) Sudden Shock!- With DVR receivers, think about where you put the unit. Make sure it is stable and will not get wet, hit, knocked off, etc. DVR systems have hard drives in them, which must be handled with extreme care.

3) Ventilation - Just like computers, the newer DVR receivers has fans and need to maintain certain temperatures. Be careful when placing them in cabinets. Receivers must have proper ventilation.

4) Moving a DVR - If you have to move a DVR, unplug it and wait for at least 30 seconds. This gives unit time for a proper shutdown.

5) Cleaning - Keep all electronics CLEAN! Get a can of air duster (made for electronics) to blow your receiver out periodically. Do this at least once a month. More if you live in a dusty area. Remember that dust is electronics worst enemy. Unplug the receiver before cleaning.

6) Pointing the dish - How the dish is pointed is one of the most critical elements of how your home dish satellite TV will work. Just 1/8 of an inch out of proper alignment can cause problems. YOU MUST USE A COMPASS if you are going to point the dish correctly. Do not even attempt if you do not have a compass or do not understand how to shoot an azimuth. Check and make sure nothing is obstructing the view of the sky (i.e. — power lines, tree limbs) before adjusting. It takes very little movement of the dish to make minor adjustments. Make very small adjustments (movements) while you or someone else is watching your signal strength screen. Do not try to make large adjustments. After making an adjustments, give the system a few seconds to respond on the signal strength. Refer to your owner’s manual for the specifics of your particular system and observe all safety precautions.

7) System doing weird things - Most issues can be resolved by simply resetting the system (screen freeze, channels not listed). Hold the power button on the receiver for a few seconds or unplug the unit from the wall (if unplugging from the wall, wait 30 seconds). Sounds too easy, but you will be surprised at how many times this will do the trick.
8) Cold dangers - Do not store your receiver in a cold environment (below 40 F). When it warms back up, moisture can form inside and damage the electronics inside (applies to most electronics) If it is cold to the touch, let it set at room temperature UNPLUGGED for at least 45 minutes. If there is apparent moisture buildup, let the system dry out at room temperature before plugging back in.

9) Coax Cables- Use only RG-6 cables! Do not use cable company TV cables (RG-59). Using RG-59 cables can cause signal loss. Always use a small wrench or pliers to tighten cable connections. Do so GENTLY! Just enough force so the cable connections cannot be loosened by hand. Overtightening connections can cause them to break or damage expensive equipment. Connections being too loose can cause loss of signal and / or moisture buildup inside of connections. All connections must be watertight!

10) Grounding — The outside components of your system must be grounded (i.e. - dish, cable splitters). The step is often neglected by installers. There should be some type of ground wire running from the outside components to a ground stake (a piece of metal driven into dirt or concrete). If you are about to purchase a system, make sure your installer does this very important step.

Dish Network - Your Best Option?

Is Dish Network the best way for me to get access to my favorite programming? I cannot imagine going back to having four networks. I love my ESPN and Food TV too much to do that, but it is difficult to know if cable is the right choice, or if I should go with a satellite company like Dish Network. There are a lot of factors to consider in the decision.

Of course the most important factor for many of us is the cost. With Dish Network, the cost depends a lot on the plan you choose. It seems that, depending on what you want out of your programming, you can spend anywhere from $32 all the way up to nearly $90 per month. Of course, there are also the other services that Dish Network will provide for additional fees, if you are so inclined.

If you have a high definition television, you will likely want a high definition receiver and high definition programming to go with your channels. You may also want to look at the DVR that Dish Network offers. This hard drive will allow you record shows, pause and rewind live events, and keep track of your favorite programming without having to schedule your life around the networks. However, each service to which you subscribe will affect your monthly bill. So, you can spend as much or as a little as you like depending on what you desire.

The biggest competition for Dish Network is their rival, Direct TV. There are certainly pros and cons to both companies, and which is better will be up to you. Direct TV’s biggest advantage is that they have exclusive rights to NFL Sunday Ticket, which gives subscribers access to every NFL game each week. Dish Network, though, has plenty of sports and entertainment packages of their own to consider. In the end, the prices and services between the two are very similar. What that means is that you are just going to have to do some research. Think about what you are hoping to get for your television programming versus the amount of money you would like so spend.

Another advantage that can be around if you think about going with Dish Network is free installation and equipment. When you go to the website or call, they will explain a setup fee and cost of equipment. However, there are many times a year that Dish Network will offer, as a promotion to boost business, free installation and equipment. That in itself can make it worth it since even cable companies will offer charge for such services.

The truth is that Dish Network may or may not be the right television entertainment option for you. The best thing you can do is get on line and get on the phone to get information on all of your entertainment options. Make sure you take into account up front costs, monthly fees, and even additional available services. Also, remember to take into account how big of a commitment you are making to the cable companies. Do all of those things and you are ready to upgrade your entertainment.

Digital Satellite TV Systems: A Whole New Entertainment World

Technology nowadays is truly amazing. One of these stunning new technologies that bring great impacts to our live styles is digital satellite TV systems. Satellite TV systems handle a number of tasks, including communicating with a satellite 22,000 miles above the earth’s surface, unscrambling and encrypted signals, converting the signal into analog or HDTV format as needed by the TV set and splitting out one channel at a time so that the viewer receives only that satellite television channel they are seeking. Digital satellite receivers open up a whole world of TV entertainment with amazing technology. These devices offer features that parents and couch potatoes could only have dreamed of in years past.

From the user angle, there are lots of functions in Digital satellite systems that bring in big improvements to their lifestyles. For example, satellite TV systems (both Dish Network and DirecTV) allow parents to lock out programming inappropriate for their children. These receivers also permit pausing live television and video recording.

Satellite TV systems will also keep track of pay-for-view programming. The receiver then communicates with computer equipment at the provider’s business to transmit billing information.

Besides all these, another great features by Dish Network and DirecTV is that these digital satellite systems are offered free! Receivers are included in packages of equipment that are supplied to subscriber homes, absolutely free. These free satellite TV systems include free equipment, free shipping and free installation. These are amazing machines that worth more than $1,500, and they can be owned by you without paying a penny-- perhaps this explains why satellite TV systems became one of the fastest growing products in USA.

DirecTV Deals: Great Programming, Great DirectTV Deals

Have you been flipping past the same old channels every day? Are you stuck in a channel surfing rut? Can you count the number of interesting programs available to watch on 1/10th of your fingers? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you should really look at upgrading to a DirectTV package. DirecTV is the largest Satellite TV provider in the world for a reason. As a general rule, DirectTV offers more channels per dollar than any other Satellite TV provider in existence. But which package should you choose? Read on for more information.

With DirecTV you can enter the world of crystal clear digital quality television in a big way. DirectTV’s entry level package can be compared only to other providers mid range packages. DirecTV’s entry level package is called Total Choice and boasts 135 high quality channels at 41.99 a month with local channels. Examples Include ABC Family, American Movie Classics (AMC), Animal Planet, BBC America, Discovery Channel, Discovery Kid, Disney Channel, 4 ESPN channels, Food Network, Hallmark Channel, The Learning Channel (TLC) and much, much more…

DirecTV’s middle of the road package is called Total Choice Plus. This package gives you an extra 20 channels. The price is only $4 more per month so in my opinion the 20 channels are well worth the price increase. Additional channels include; The Biography Channel, Boomerang, DIY Network and more.

If you are really serious about fine television programming, you may be interested in Directtv’s Total Choice Premier Package. This package is not for the weak or faint of heart weighing in at a hefty 215 channels, 30 of which are premium movie channels. You will get big names like Cinemax, Stars, HBO and more. This package also includes several specialty sports networks and like all other DirecTV packages you will still get your tried and true trusty local channels. This package runs 93.99 a month as of Oct 25 and is highly recommended.
